A 1959 Jaguar XK150 S fixed head coupe is one of the star cars in the Charterhouse auction of classic & vintage cars at the Haynes Motor Museum on Thursday 4th June.
“The Jaguar XK150 was the third incarnation of the XK range for Jaguar following on from the XK120 and the XK140.” Commented Richard Bromell. “All were fast, but the XK150 S was the fastest with a top speed of over 130 mph and a 0-60 time of 7.8 seconds which is more than respectable today.”
This XK150 S was bought by the owner in 1972. By 1987 the Jaguar needed some restoration which was started but by 1989 the project had stalled and this XK150 was garaged from 1989 until Charterhouse were asked to the property to value the car this year after the owner sadly passed away.
Partially dismantled and partially restored, this Jaguar is largely complete although is fitted with a replacement 3.4 litre engine with twin carburettors and will be a great opportunity to finish the restoration and to take to the road once again.
There are nearly 60 classic & vintage cars estimated to sell for over £600,000 being sold by Charterhouse in their auction at The Haynes Motor Museum on Thursday 4th June. Viewing, at the museum, is on Wednesday 3rd and you can see all the lots on charterhouse-auction.com
