  • by

An Austin-Healey 3000, the third to last model to roll off the production line, is one of the highlights of the Charterhouse classic car auction being held at The Haynes Motor Museum on 19th November.

“The Austin-Healey 3000 was a popular British sports car produced from 1959 to 1967” Commented Richard Bromell. “With production finishing in December 1967 this car was registered in 1968 and came with wind up windows, a walnut dash, brake servo as standard with 150hp on tap and a top speed of 122mph.”

The owner was serving in the Royal Marines in 1973 when he bought the car. He was only the second owner and continued to enjoy this Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 for the next 53 years. During his ownership, the car has not only been used as his own wedding car but that also for his family members.

By the late 1990’s the Healey needed some attention and underwent restoration. Moving forward to 2007 and the car was also re-painted.

Now after 53 years of ownership the retired Royal Marine officer has decided to let a new custodian enjoy this historically significant Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 cars which is estimated at £24,000-28,000

Charterhouse is now accepting further entries for this classic & vintage car auction on 19th November being held at the prestigious Haynes Motor Musuem.
