A single owner auction of enamel signs and automobilia in Somerset was nearly a total sell out with only a couple of lots which did not sell.
“The enamel signs and automobilia had been collected over the past 30 years.” Commented Richard Bromell. “The collection was displayed in a couple of barns with the walls and ceiling being almost completely covered.”
Top lot in the sale was a rare pictorial Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies enamel sign, which sold for £1,900.
Elsewhere in the auction of 400 lots, the AA yellow and black enamel sign which hung outside Nether Stowey garage for years sold for £1,100, a Shell plastic forecourt sign sold for £950 to a buy in Denmark and a vintage petrol pump £820.
Overall, this single owner collection totalled nearly £55,000 which was just over double the owner hoped for.
