A brace of vintage Lagonda motor cars attracted huge interest in the Charterhouse auction of classic & vintage cars held at The Haynes Motor Museum on Thursday 4th June despite the market for pre-war cars being difficult.
”Whilst we travel far and wide valuing and helping clients, these two Lagonda’s were garaged just a couple of miles away in Somerset.” Commented Richard Bromell.
The eldest Lagonda was a running and driving 1929 tourer which sold to a collector in Ireland for £34,500. This was followed by a 1932 Lagonda saloon. Purchased by the owner in 1976 from a scrap yard in Kent, this sold for £12,200 and has headed back to a buyer in Kent!
Elsewhere in the auction, a buyer from Australia flew over for the auction and bought a 1969 Jaguar E-type left hand drive roadster at £45,000, a Belgium collector came over and bought a 1978 Lotus Esprit for £19,000 and the newest car in the auction, a 2009 Ford Focus RS, sold for £28,000. Overall, the 60 lots on offer sold for nearly £400,000.
