Thunderbirds are Go!

A rare Ford Thunderbird Town Hardtop is coming up in the Charterhouse classic car auction being held at the prestigious Haynes Motor Museum on Thursday 19th November.

“The two door Town Hardtop coupe was introduced by Ford in 1966.” Commented Richard Bromell “It featured a formal blind-quarter roofline incorporating sold rear pillars to create a more private limousine style interior.”

This Ford Thunderbird Town Hardtop coupe, with its 6400cc V8 engine mated to an automatic gearbox, celebrates its 60th birthday this year.

It was bought by the owner when on a trip to America in 2008 travelling with his wife and his octogenarian mother-in-law who both had to wait patiently in the Californian heat whilst he negotiated the deal!

Running and driving well, the owner has enjoyed his T-Bird for the past 18 years taking it to classic car shows across the South West. Now in his 70’s he has decided to let a new owner take over custody of his beloved Thunderbird.

Richard Bromell and the team at Charterhouse, The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne are available for valuations classic and vintage cars on 01935 812277 or via cars@charterhouse-auction.com
