Two Pints Please!

A milk float, nearly 70 years old, is one of the more unusual lots entered into the Charterhouse auction of classic & vintage cars on Thursday 23rd October at The Haynes Motor Museum.

“I am pleased to say we still have milk delivered to our home three times a week, although it is in a much more modern milk float!” Commented Richard Bromell.

First registered in 1956, this rare Austin-Morris J Type rolled off the production line with a cab and a chassis and was then fitted with the specialist milk float back by a company in Poole.

It was used by Coward Brothers Dairy in Shaftesbury for many years. It even made guest appearances in the hugely popular TV Heartbeat series.

TV and milk round star the 1956 Austin-Morris J Type milk float at Charterhouse £12,000-14,000
