1 in a 1,000 French Classic Car Comes to Charterhouse

Following on from the Charterhouse dispersal auction of The Moretonhampstead Motor Museum, which totalled over £600,000, they have been instructed to sell a super rare Matra Djet in their classic and vintage car auction at The Haynes Motor Museum on Thursday 26th June.

“Despite having been a car enthusiast for over 50 years, this is the first time I have ever seen a Matra Djet in the wild, although according to my I-SPY book of cars I still has a few more cars to see!” Commented Richard Bromell.

    1 in a 1,000 – 1966 Matra Djet V £5,000-£10,000 at Charterhouse on 26th June

This 1966 Matra Djet V is just one of only 916 models which rolled off the production line. The Djet was the world’s first mid-engined production road car. Fitted with a Renault 1,106cc engine in a lightweight fibreglass body it had a top speed of 106mph.

Bought in France by the late owner as a restoration project it was subsequently registered in the UK in 1985 and is estimated by Charterhouse at £5,000-£10,000.
