Barn Stored Morgan Has Just Three Wheels

A 1933 Morgan Family Super Sports has been discovered by Charterhouse Auctioneers tucked away in the corner of a Dorset barn.

“It’s the dream to make discoveries such as this.” Commented Richard Bromell. “Whilst many like to buy their classic and vintage cars on the button there are many who love and enjoy the challenge of either re-commissioning a car or embarking on a full blown restoration, especially at this time of the year with collectors looking for a winter project.”

The Morgan three wheeler comes to the Charterhouse auction from long term ownership. The owner sadly passed away although he had not seen his beloved Morgan for some time as it was parked up in one of his barns and only accessible via a small track which had been reclaimed by nature making access difficult.

The Morgan rolled off the production line in 1933 fitted with a JAP 1,200cc V twin engine to the front with two wheels and a third wheel to the back. The owner bought the Morgan over 30 years ago and during his ownership regularly used the car on Continental touring holidays and rallies with his wife as co-driver including trips to France and Spain where the car always attracted admiring glances.

In his later years, he struggled to get into the car so a family member cut pat of the steering wheel off so he could at least sit in his beloved three wheeler.

However, since he passed away his wife has not been too well. The family have taken the difficult decision to sell the Morgan three wheeler in the Charterhouse specialist auction of classic and vintage cars on 5th October at the prestigious Haynes International Motor Museum to raise funds to help pay for her care where it is estimated to sell for £20,000. Viewing for the auction at Haynes is on Monday 4th October.

Charterhouse are now accepting further entries for this auction of classic and vintage cars at the Haynes International Motor Museum on Tuesday 5th October and for their specialist auction of classic and vintage motorcycles on Thursday 15th October, also at Haynes.
