Entries are well under way for the next Charterhouse auction of vintage and classic cars in July, although there seems to be a theme of green cars consigned!
“Choosing the colour of a car can be a very personal choice. This combined with certain colours being more popular than others in various decades can provide some interesting colours.” Commented Richard Bromell. “There again, there are some cars you expect to see a certain colour such as a red Ferrari, although they were also supplied new in a broad range of other colours including yellow, blue, silver and white.”
Green cars in this specialist classic and vintage car auction include the large, the small, and just about everything in between.
If a Bentley is your carriage of choice, there are two being sold from a collector who is retiring from driving. Both are painted in Balmoral green with a 1997 Bentley Continental R estimated at £25,000-30,000 and a 1989 Bentley Turbo R for £10,000-12,000.
If a Bentley is just too big for you, then a 1965 Mini Countryman painted in Almond green might suit. Fully restored a few years ago at a cost of £20,000, this charming little Tudor house on wheels is estimated at £13,000-£15,000.
Coming in at a similar size there is a 1960 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite. From a deceased estate in Wales, this British Racing green cheeky looking sports car is valued at £10,000-12,000.
However, if you fancy something in between, then a classic bronze green 1950 Land Rover Series I, which has been in the owners care for the past 35 years, could be yours for £21,000-23,000.
All these green classic cars, and many more besides, are going under the Charterhouse hammer in their classic car auction being held at The Haynes International Motor Museum at Sparkford, Somerset on Thursday 15th July.
