Classy Collection of Cars Comes to Charterhouse

    The Gerry Wheeler collection of classic and vintage cars is being sold by Charterhouse on-site at Shapwick, near Bridgwater, on Friday 20th September.

    “Gerry was very well known as a keen collector, usually of large engine pre-war cars.” Commented Richard Bromell. “All his cars are on the button and ready to go having been looked after by Pete his trusty mechanic and friend for many years.”

    Gerry sadly passed away a couple of years ago and the family have decided now is the time to auction his collection and instructed Charterhouse to disperse the cars.

    Estimated at £75,000-95,000 star of the collection is a 1924 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Silver Ghost Springfield Pickwick Limousine. This has featured on the telly and big screen including Peaky Blinders, Downton Abbey and more recently in the opening scenes of The King’s Man where it was filmed driving down Jermyn Street, London.

    Also from the collection in the auction, there is a 1916 American LaFrance, a 1928 Lincoln Town Car, a 1929 Lanchester Landaulette, a 1928 Studebaker, a 1930 Sunbeam limousine and a 1939 Rolls-Royce Wraith amongst many others.

    Viewing for the auction, at Shapwick Hill, Shapwick, near Bridgwater TA7 9NA, is on Thursday 19th September with the auction starting at 12 noon on Friday 20th September. Alternatively, you can follow the auction and bid live online via charterhouse-auction.com
