Fast Fords for £20,000 each

Two rare fast Fords are due to be sold by Charterhouse in their classic car auction on Thursday 15th July at the Haynes International Motor Museum, Sparkford.

Mint: 1992 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4×4 estimated at £20,000

The two classic fast Fords could possibly not be more different.

First up there is a 1992 Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth. Coming to auction from a serial car collector in Devon this Ford is not only fitted with four wheel drive but also a 2.0 litre engine with a Garret turbo. This understated looking 1990’s saloon in non-Cosworth form was a perennial favourite of reps or salespeople travelling the length and breadth of the country.

In Cosworth form it was capable of 150 mph making it one of the fastest production Fords. Today, many Cosworths have been through numerous owners and travelled intergalactic miles, but not the Charterhouse car. This has been treasured and cosseted by its owners and has covered under 49,000 miles.

Whilst this fast Ford is mint, the other fast Ford is a restoration project. Dating to 1975, this is a rare Ford Escort RS2000 and one of the last Mark I’s to roll off the production line. When the first RS2000 was produced it was capable of 108mph at a time when most production cars had a top speed of 80 mph or so.

The Ford Escort RS2000 Mark I is, like the Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth a highly sought after car with both motors being estimated by Charterhouse at £20,000 each when they go under the Charterhouse hammer in their classic car auction being held at The Haynes International Motor Museum at Sparkford, Somerset on Thursday 15th July.

Charterhouse are now accepting further entries for this specialist auction of classic and vintage cars and for their auction of classic & vintage motorcycles, also at Haynes, on 30th June.
