The Wraith was produced at the Rolls-Royce Derby factory from 1938 to 1939
Unfortunately, production was cut short by the outbreak of World War II, with only 491 units built
As was typical for Rolls-Royce at the time, the Wraith was supplied as a rolling chassis to independent coachbuilders who would then create bespoke bodies for each car
This allowed for a high degree of customisation and individuality in each vehicle
This pre-war Wraith (to become Silver Wraith post war) is in regular use, including a round trip to Ascot last year, a highly spec’d car with rear heating (not connected, black leather to the driving compartment and beige cloth to the rear
Comparatively light to drive for a large car, although the R.H. gate gearchange may take a mile or two to get used to
